Where it works

Wall wrap for full walls and smaller spaces

Velven can be used across a complete interior wall, repeated around a room or applied over a smaller area such as a hallway panel or alcove. The pressure sensitive adhesive applies dry without wallpaper paste, giving you more ways to work with the walls already in place.
Full wallsUse one finish across a complete smooth wall to change the character of the room. Woodgrains create a timber wall look, while stone and softly coloured finishes bring a different material or colour to the surface.
Feature wallsChoose one wall to introduce a stronger grain, texture or colour without changing every wall in the room. Living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas and home offices can all use a single wall as the material focus.
Hallways and smaller areasHallway panels, entry walls, alcoves and other smaller areas are practical places to introduce a finish without wrapping an entire room.

The method

How to apply wall wrap with control

Treat the wall as a series of manageable vertical panels rather than one large sheet. Velven's pressure sensitive adhesive lets you position each section with light pressure before firm, even pressure strengthens the grip.

Set the first panel

Measure the wall and cut the first length a few centimetres longer than the wall height. Mark a straight starting line, expose a small section of adhesive and align the top of the panel before working downward. Smooth from the centre toward the edges as you reveal more of the backing.

Create a clean seam

For a double cut seam, overlap the adjoining panels slightly and cut through both layers using a straight edge and fresh blade. Remove the narrow excess strips, bring the cut edges together and press them firmly so the seam lies flat.

Finish the edges and corners

Press the film firmly into each skirting, cornice and corner before trimming. Use a fresh blade and work gradually so the cut follows the edge of the wall without pulling or stretching the material.

Before you order

Check the finish and the bond first

The finish should suit the room, and the adhesive should suit the painted surface. Test both on the actual wall before ordering enough material for the full project.

See it in your own light

Place an A4 sample against the wall and view it in daylight and evening light. Check the colour beside your flooring, furniture, paint and other materials before choosing the final finish.

Check the wall

Velven is designed for smooth, sealed interior walls. Texture and weak or flaking paint can affect how the film sits and how the painted surface behaves when the film is eventually removed, so inspect the wall before deciding whether to wrap it.

Test the bond first

The pressure sensitive adhesive forms a strong bond, and that bond continues to strengthen over the first few days. Because every painted surface is different, apply a small piece in a hidden area and leave it for several days. Remove it carefully to confirm the film comes away cleanly without lifting or damaging the paint before wrapping the full wall.
