The basics

What exactly is Velven?

It is an architectural finish that you apply yourself. Think of it as a peel and stick wrap for surfaces. You use it to resurface cabinet doors, benchtops, vanities, doors, and furniture, so they look new without replacing anything.

Does it really look like the real material?

Once it is smoothed down, yes. The finishes are designed to look like real wood grain and real stone, with texture and depth, not a flat printed look. The best way to be sure is to feel a sample in your own light.

Will it damage my surfaces?

Can I use this in a rental?

This is exactly what a lot of our customers use it for. The adhesive is strong and leaves no residue on a well painted surface. The important part is the surface underneath. If paint was applied poorly and is already lifting, removing the wrap later can lift that paint with it. Always test a small hidden area first.

How do I remove it later?

When you are ready for a change, peel it back slowly. On a sound, well painted surface it comes away cleanly. Warming it gently as you peel helps.

Where it works

Can I use it in kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes. It suits cabinetry, vanities, benchtops, and splash areas. Keep it away from direct high heat, such as the surface right beside a cooktop flame, and let the surface dry before applying in damp rooms.

What surfaces can I apply it to?

It works best on smooth, clean, flat surfaces. Laminate, melamine, painted timber, metal, and glass all work well. Rough, flaking, or heavily textured surfaces are harder and need more prep.

Buying and applying

How much do I need?

Measure the surfaces you want to cover and use our calculator to get the right amount. It is better to order a little extra for mistakes and corners.

Use the calculator

How do I apply it?

Clean and dry the surface. Line the piece up before you peel. Peel back a small section, stick it down, then smooth as you go with a flat tool, pushing air out to the edges. Trim with a sharp blade. Take your time on corners.

Should I order samples first?

We really recommend it. The sample box gives you six finishes to try on your own surfaces before you commit to a full project.

Order the sample box

Can my samples count toward a full order?

Yes. When you buy samples, we add what you spent back to your account as store credit, up to 50 dollars. Sign in at checkout and it comes off your next order automatically. No code to remember.
