Maison Walnut, The Feel Good Hood

The material

Built properly.

This is an architectural film, not wallpaper. The difference shows up in your hands.

A thicker filmMuch thicker than standard contact paper and more durable, with a protective wear layer. It reads as panelling, not paper.

A ruler on the backThe release paper is printed with a measuring grid. Large squares are 10cm, small squares are 1cm, so you measure and cut straight on the backing.

It forgivesAir channel adhesive lets you lift and reposition as you work. Small crinkles and scuffs heal with gentle warmth from a hair dryer.

Removable by design, no residue on properly painted surfaces. Test a small patch first.

The method

How it goes on.

A feature wall takes an afternoon, one drop at a time.

Measure and cutMeasure the wall, plan your drops, then cut on the grid. The 10cm and 1cm squares keep every cut straight without a ruler.

Peel and squeegeePeel back a hand width, set the top edge, then work the squeegee from the centre out as you go down. Lift and retry if it lands wrong.

Edges and joinsTrim flush at skirting and cornice. For joins between drops, overlap the two pieces and cut through both for a hairline seam.

Panelling a wall costs thousands. This is a fraction of that, and the decision itself costs $7.95.
